Continual research and interest into C4AA
'MAKING THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE
THE CENTER FOR ARTISTIC ACTIVISM IS A PLACE TO EXPLORE, ANALYZE, AND STRENGTHEN CONNECTIONS BETWEEN SOCIAL ACTIVISM AND ARTISTIC PRACTICE. ARTISTIC ACTIVISM IS MORE THAN JUST AN INNOVATIVE TACTIC, IT IS AN ENTIRE APPROACH: A PERSPECTIVE, A PRACTICE, A PHILOSOPHY. OUR GOAL IS TO MAKE MORE CREATIVE ACTIVISTS AND MORE EFFECTIVE ARTISTS. WE AIM TO WIN. '
I would be very interested in not only researching the work being done but bringing the organisation closer to home. Therefore I have been watching online 'webinars' to learn further what the organisation are about and how they suggest organizing creative campaigns. https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/registration.tmpl
The organisation of campaigns is a vital aspect of developing my art. Regardless of how much I create and the depth of meaning, unless that work resonates with the viewer then it can not stand alone as activism with aim to change mind sets and pre-determined beliefs.
The principles of the organisation are all aspects that I have either analysed or thought about regarding my own work and the aim of such within its social context.
'PRINCIPLES-
We believe there is an art to activism.
We believe that activism is too often flat and colorless…and it doesn’t need to be.
We believe an aesthetic eye and a creative hand are essential for building a better world.
We believe that everyone has an artistic life they can bring to their activism.
We believe that cultural transformation is necessary for lasting change.
We believe in Utopia, not as a destination but as a direction.'
After contacting the C4AA it became apparent that they do not forge explicit links with groups they don't have running affiliation with. However, the email encouraged me to learn from the website and good luck when I am trying to set up my own center/movement for artistic activism within the UK. Many artists have themes behind their work that concern socially engaging practices, therefore interaction with them would be vital and useful to move forward. Forward toward the knowledge of what is needed for the movement to gain pace and individuals to be doing work on a larger scale as a way of fighting societal dysfunctions. As the modern creative thinkers, essays written and work would be pivotal in influencing the world. Grouping such people together would mean strength and an opportunity for myself to start a art project that would lead to many more art projects.
