This piece began taking shape as I researched further into psychological research concerning art and the impact it can have upon the viewer. The emotive changes that can take place within a viewer's cognitive systems are often greater when the artwork is aesthetically pleasing.
With further influence from my photography set, I decided the background should be non-traditional to reflect the automatic nature of my work. The colours are unplanned and the strokes are in no way controlled. My interest and value for automatism drove this to allow my own subconscious to be released within the work. The subject matter of trees is vital to the metaphorical background of the work. The concept of carbon 'dumping' and also carbon credits. This work aims to celebrate the natural form in its own glory without resulting in appropriating it for a selfish, harmful purpose. After recent work on poetry and the power of such to initially convey subject matter lead to the line of 'When the Play is finished'. This sentence embodies the game being held above the everyday workings of our ecosystem, along with the performance many leaders front about changing it.
