Reflection and explanation
Within this series of work I am aiming to develop the concept of poetic art. The visual aids and words used simultaneously are likely to allow a depth of understanding from the viewers perspective. In parallel to this, my work with paint and detailed form drawings can coincide to offer a less abstract entry to the thematics of my work. With modern art, my fear is that many feel already unable to access it along with the meanings and aims. Due to my aim being so vital and penetrative of all we do, I do not wish to cut out any viewer. Therefore, along with the aesthetically pleasing paintings and drawings, the footage and layered poetry works towards gently developing a more open conscious to ideas and concepts/new information.
The finished video aims to focus on a metaphorical lights that no longer shines upon us. Humanity's behavior has begun to catch up in time leading to a very dire yet unknown future. Within the three line poem, homage is paid to poet Henry King (1592-1669). A line from a work entitled 'the surrender' displays our need to respect mother nature or be forced to surrender to her ultimate power. The earth will remain and recover after humanity has become extinct by our own means. This poem is a metaphysical poem displaying aspects of 'strength' and depth. This is another aspect of why I chose the work.
The first draft of the work is created on a free 'wevideo' sight. Further work done will be done with software that does not leave a watermark. This initial experimentation however has lead me to understand the use of words and images to create a video.
