This process is not something I had worked with previously, therefore it was a very interesting practice to work with. My development of print work with colour layering to build the overall image adds depth to the work and engages the artist with the image further. The image I chose was taken in Burano, Italy. This historical island is famous for the coloured houses that it holds. The houses were used for the sailors to recognise their own home as they approached the island. I visited the Island in February 2017 and used this as an opportunity to document the peaceful streets. (Due to it being low session of tourism). The area was also of great interest to me due to the projections it faces as a result of global warming.

The image was therefore fitting. It features a woman sweeping water away across the concrete from a bucket. I focused upon her instead of the canal's or the houses due to my thoughts regarding human involvement and wilful blindness. The lady in the image will be vastly effected by global warming however she Personally is likely to be contributing as well. As everyone does. Therefore I chose to use this image as a metaphorical representation of the human implications of the situation. The use of this image in screen printing extends this metaphor further due to the layers used to compose the image.
Each layer was interesting within itself due to the composition it presented. The paint like quality the screen prints created reimagined the images with a new life. It raises them away from a print of a culture that I am not part of, and re-establishes the image as a research based interest, documented. This advanced workshop really drove me to think of why I was producing a certain image and allowed evaluation of this. My own photography was an important aspect of that, the relationship I hold with images I have taken and also seen with the naked eye.
