Own practice
After receiving the feedback I have been considering my place within the artist sphere. I feel I do not sit with many others of my generation. I have little time for industries, including art, that are not progressive or striving for change. I feel all aspects of human life should be working toward a more sustainable future. My work has always considered this and the extensive research allows deeper understanding of such. The art's world is not taken seriously and is scorned for the fact its one of the the pinicals of 'western luxury'. Until the creative sphere can prove effective in genuine change and progression, I feel this stance wont change. I hope to be part of a movement that allows artist to influence the masses and re open 'fine art' as a widely spoken language.
Therefore, to progress within the arts world and still have the same morality. My work will become a critical approach to the artists sphere. Re evaluating what has been and what is to come. How this can be used positively. However, I hope to continue producing aesthetically pleasing pieces to illustrate the text aspect of the work. This is not only personal therapy but also allows the reader to have an insight into the mind producing the ideological stance that the text stems from. My age old admiration for art is being tainted with the desperate need for others to hold the same passion as I do for sustainability. I feel blessed to be submerged within a creative environment, however; the same creativity in the minds of many artists could be the key to real social change. New approaches and initiatives come from creative thinking.
Therefore, the text, poetry and visual work I produce will document the journey through these thoughts and explain the themes around my work, in aim to educate and inspire.
