17th October- Student led Seminar presentation

17th October-

Student led Seminar presentation

Within these presentations we were encouraged to look into our practice and therefore gain feedback from other students. I signed up to the 'psychoanalyse and gender' seminar group to link closely to my work with psychological catharsis. I interpreted this as an opportunity to talk about my work and research practice. I spoke about the main influences within my practice and my current projects. I also spoke of our position in western privilege and what implications this holds. The five minute presentation was very helpful due to the time it allowed me to consider my practice and condense my concepts to a five minute presentation.

Questions I received were around the differing fields between my visual work and research work. I concluded, within the seminar, that the visual nature of my work stops my political views surfacing as propaganda style lecturing of information.

I was recommended a book;
Jan svankmajer; touch and imagination

This was to further look into the notion of the touch and the tactile nature of the materials used.
