29th- Reflections- New tile production- Visaudio Concept
29th Reflections
Production and analysis
The below images are the clay 'tiles' I made on a larger scale (each with its own blog post, reflections and documentation). These to me are a type of visual poetry. Poetry is something connecting and immersive. Therefore I decided to make the tiles larger to try and reflect this. Also, I have began to toy with the concept of these tiles becoming part of a performance, they surround the space to try and visualise the words I speak. Also, it offers a visual and tactile age for people, their brains opened to new possibilities and concepts.
Poetry collective concept/opportunities
This week I attended a spoken word night at the Birdcage. This local performance had a number of speakers. Some students from many fields and some older individuals, others who partake in poetry as a hobby. Therefore there was a real range of performers. The people who run this night are called 'the poetry collective' and they encourage local talent in and around Norwich. This is something I would love to be involved with to try and remove my art from a gallery setting. The removal of the spoken word from the gallery not only allows a platform but would gage a new response. The audience is something that would be vital for the poetry. Poetry within a gallery is in a setting in which people expect to see art and influential writing. Therefore if I was to perform to a non-arts crowd then response may differ.
However, for the time being while I research how to get involved in that I have been looking into something within the university. So far many people have expressed an interest in the concept. This may possibly merge with the performing arts society however it would be more writing focused.
This could be an ongoing socially engaged project that branches out into all areas of the university. There are many exciting opportunities to take when cultural expansion is concerned.
