21st February- Cross Course Collaboration meeting

Within this meeting we were-
Brainstorming ideas
Deciding jobs needing to be done
Time frame+locations
Outcome goals

Today my group met to discuss our ideas that we had worked on individually. It was mainly the fine art members who had done conceptual work/planning and presented those ideas. This worked well however as once concept naturally became more developed (Olivers). Another was presented with a lot of well done research but it would have been too intense to present to an audience within the given time restrictions. I did however mention I would be interested in continuing that work with her as a further collaboration. It has been beneficial already to work across courses as they have highlighted our conceptual focus. Therefore working separately with her on a collaboration could allow us to develop this simultaneously while losing the power of authorship. This would also be some more localise work/action done within my art which is something I wanted to move towards. In a way, her idea dn the concept we have settled for are a type of creative activism as they are experimenting with ways to influence people. The messages we are giving out are also things that people often protest about or fight for. We have settled on a public announcement that uses a Gingerbread person to explain gender to a confused protagonist and enlighten regarding the ever changing visual cues and non-application of stereotypes. What is vital here si the non-implementation of hierarchy. The character should not be learning to 'be okay' with those around them they are learning that this is the way it is.  Using a gingerbread man instils humour well and also can educate lower levels of education/children. By using careful humour we should be able to involve and include as many people as possible in our 'audience' bracket. Due to its public nature we want it to be accessible and relatable. We are using a Northern narrator to take that southern elite omnipresent power aspect away from the classic PSA film. This is another vital aspect of the work. Our collaborative plans have worked smoothly thus far with good communication and input. We are meeting once more friday to start shooting and we are all aware of our roles ready for then. Props are minimal and between us we have the needed equipment.

After today's meeting I went into the playhouse to ask permission to use the space. I had to email one of the managers and am waiting on a response. Although the answer is a likely yes this is a professional step to ensure everyone is comfortable and aware with what is happening. Oliver is lead and director within the group as it was his visualisation and concept, therefore he is drafting the script which we are all then passing round and edit to ensure everyone is happy with the wording of it all. The script is being put next to the visualised concept so we can be sure of gaps and spacing between the voice over. I am also responsible for documentation within the group and will be filming time-lapse of each meeting/shooting to compile at the end with dates and the key happening of that day. This is just a nice documentation of our interaction and an analysis of the collaborative nature of this work. I will also be doing photography behind the scenes as well as some sketches of the day and visualisation of concepts discussed.
