13th April-

'Fluid Praxis'
Curation meeting
Reflections//digitalisation of notes

This morning we met to discuss Fluid Praxis ahead of the installation on Monday. It was good to touch base with the other curators and talk about what else is left to do. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the exhibition being an internal one many of the artists have probably put proposals forward as a way of ticking boxes. They have not corresponded over the easter break. I am aware we did not have university but they knew the dates and they put forward proposals. They can't then expect to be part of a fully curated exhibition upon arrival back to university. Myself, the other curators have other work, projects and things to be doing other than chasing artists that have not replied for two weeks. This was the main topic of conversation between myself and the other curators. They also have felt very frustrated with the situation, further they thanked me for all the work I have been doing for the exhibition over the easter break. I did this as I want this exhibition to materialise as I imagined it would.
Research in art and research as art is something for me that is very important and vital to my practice, therefore, I couldn't let the opportunity to be involved in Research based curation go to waste. Curating this exhibition will be a test to me as I am working with a number of people who do not class research as their main 'praxis' or aim/interest. I understand there is spectrum however I was hoping this project would open up new relationships for me.

However, we did discuss what work we have and where that might go. I drew up a plan with the artists that we definitely have work for/can trust to provide work. We also sourced large tables with glass tops, display tables. these will house research material, object and items in an archival fashion. Due to the lack or artist response I will be exhibiting a large proportion of my own work in this show. Something I am happy about as it is a lot of the work that hasn't been shown before and this will give light to the successes and failures of the works. In a research setting this couldnt work better as they are still experimenting with visual access to the viewer and the way in which and the extent to which a work can make radical commentary on a less obvious level.
