 'How text lives' Exposition

This day has been so busy and I have been rushing between my fluid Praxis installation and the How Text Lives collaborative filming. As I have mentioned before I wrote the text that the exposition focuses around, therefore the film. This means that my section of the film making was almost done. I hired all the equipment and set up in the room with holly as we waited for Hannah to arrive. She was very set that today she wanted to get all the shots down to start editing and then we would know if she needed to shoot any extra ones. Today’s reoccurring theme however was people being late and slightly unreliable. Therefore she didn’t get as much done as desired but is confident that all the shots are good and can be worked with. She took many shots of holly. Some from the side, some directly front and others with specific focus on areas such as the mouth or ear. This shows the differing sections of the face when the individual is talking. Hannah isa performance artist yet this work is much more strict and stern. There is very little of Hannah’s own style within this work and much more of Holly’s. This is what has made this exhibition so deeply collaborative but so personally reflective of our own styles materials and focuses. Each of these aspects are showcased in different ways through the works. The exhibition will be labelled with all of our names de authoring the individual works however there is more life breathed into certain aspects by certain members of the three. I was considering the interesting notion of internalising the words. Hannah has been learning the world for the filming and for her performance, I drew parallels here between that internalisation and the edible internalisation of the edible rice paper text I will be producing. Both will be internalised in different ways. Similarly, the viewing of a film/ moving image is often something that is memorable. The storage of these things and interpretations/ sources are much more effective than the block of a text given to a viewer. What parts are the most memorable and why, is it because of the medium or the message. This investigation ties in with my enquiries with Sophia as we jointly believe that the physical is as vital to the message as the research and content. A lot of the work I am doing at the minute is investigating different ways of interpreting information/ the output of that information in visual means. I would ideally like to continue work with Sophia into what parts of our practice/ experience have been successful and therefore what possibly might work to re create to further investigate. It will be interesting to see the final edit of the film work and the way in which is lives in the space with a live performed version also.
