30th April- 'How text lives' Opening evening
Opening evening//Private view

The opening evening was a great success with a much larger turnout than expected. This was amazing and the hard work that went into the project felt like it was reaching a wide audience. The interesting thing I found was that there was so many people from a non 'art' background there. Many people I have met at work or outside of the artistic community. This is a really important aspect as it is reaching as many different people as possible.

After the opening evening I was evaluating what I think went well and what needs improving. I concluded that the work needed to be more inviting to the public. We had many members of the public come to view the work. However, I feel it would be intimidating walking into a space where many people have already met before. Therefore, next time I would like to work on the 'welcome' factor of the night.
The opening evening did manage to harbour some very interesting conversations and interactions between people about the work and the concepts. A friend of mine's boyfriend is a self proclaimed art novis and enjoys coming to event to talk about the concepts behind the work. We discussed the work at length and he said that it would be nice to have some sort of visualisation of my thinking, my links made between concept and work. This is difficult to do without telling the viewer what to think. Yet, as he went on to say. The viewer will think as they please regardless of how I theorised the work. Or he suggested that the space be more of a map with an endpoint that explains my research after they viewing.
