The domestic Item
In this set of photographic progressions I have been considering what it means for this information to be readily available as it is online as a pdf. However, what does it mean for the information to be in every home, on every line, on materials. This changes the dynamic of the words and animates the people and 'capital' it discusses. I feel moving the document to this setting reminds us that this is not an economic thing this is a human thing that will affect so many people day to day. This is not considered and the stressing of the word 'should' implements even further problems and lack of consideration for those under the government's rules and who will live with the implications. The material shift here is also something of great interest to to me, moving the work from a rug to natural to domestic settings. This, from the back appears to be another sort of bedsheet or piece of material in a household. However the inspection reveals it. This acts as metaphor as the document is readily available and seemingly inconspicuous and unproblematic until closer inspection. This concept and investigation is still in early stages however re-use of this material for differing means could throw up a better visual commentary on overiding power systems and the way in which we as artist and society function underneath such.
